Nortel-Led Team Wins $300M Federal Contract

A team led by Nortel Government Solutions has won a $300 million contract to replace the Social Security Administration’s worldwide telephone system.

The contract covers 10 years.

The Nortel team will install a converged voice and data network utilizing Internet Protocol technology. The Nortel subsidiary will design the network.
According to Nortel, the contract will be one of the largest voice over Internet Protocol based implementations in the world.

General Dynamics, Black Box Network Services, Shared Technologies, AT&T, York Telecom, High Wire Networks, NetIQ and Pal-Tech are Nortel’s partners in the project.
